I need to apologize again for the delay in updating this site. The main reason for the delay is that there really is nothing to update. Brian is still in a coma-like state. He does open his eyes, but, he is still non-responsive. I was very encouraged on Sunday evening when I was shouting his name and several times his mouth said “What”. No sound came out- but it’s a great sign that he can hear us, knows his name is Brian, and knows the correct response when someone shouts your name is to say “What”. I was so excited. That was the confirmation I needed to know he’s in there wanting to come out and play!
He is still fighting very hard. The swelling in his brain has been fluctuating; they are trying to determine what infections he is suffering from as well as if his on-again off-again fever is caused by an infection or if it is due to the thermostat in his head being “broken”.
We are still playing a waiting game. When Brian takes the time he needs to heal, we should see some more improvement. But as it stands right now, we all must wait. I wish I had some better news for you all. But once I do, I promise I will shout it from the roof tops (as well as post it on here…..)!
Olivia is doing well. She really misses her daddy. The excitement of Christmas coming up is helping to keep her mind off exactly how much she misses him. We talk about him all the time and remember fun and happy times we’ve had together -we also are coming up with ideas of more fun things we can do with him in the future. She prays for him every night before bed. She sends messages with me to the hospital for him such as “What’s up, Dude?” or “Hang 10 Dude” or “I love you and I miss you- get well and come home!” She also picks out cards for him. She loves him so much. She is a very lucky little girl to have a daddy like Brian. I am a very lucky girl to have them both in my life.
Thank you all so much for all your prayers and concern for Brian. Please continue to keep him and Olivia in your prayers.
