Out of ICU...

Back and forth, back and forth.

Brian has been moved out of ICU again -- which is a good thing. It means that he is stable enough to go to the regular floor.

Now he is on the 4th floor, Room 403. Visiting hours are anytime as long as you are quiet and respectful of those around. So we ask that anyone that feels comfortable going to visit Brian do so. He needs to be stimulated and talked to.

As far as his health goes, the doctors changed his medications and his pancreas is improving...YAY! But he is still having some trouble with his hemoglobin - low levels. So they have had to give him blood on a couple of occasions. The gastrointestinal doctor came in today and said that they may need to put a scope (like a camera) into his intestines and stomach to make sure there is no bleeding. It's possible that the combination of medicines and the fact that Brian is not moving around is causing his stomach to be irritated. Right now they are trying to get his body to make more blood cells and monitoring his hemoglobin. So far so good...

He is also still swollen...We're not exactly sure why he's swollen. We think it's from the excess fluids given to him over the weekend. It will take his body a few days to process the fluid out of his cells and back through his kidneys. In the meantime, the doctor said to massage his hands and arms and get the blood flowing. And hopefully the swelling will go down soon.

They also did an ultrasound last night to make sure there are no blood clots in his body...all clear!! YAY!! That's a good sign - since Brian can't move around, walk around and circulate his blood properly, blood clots are always a possiblity. But he's all clear!

But he is still not responding to us. His eyes are open a lot of the day - just today he was sound asleep but once I started talking to him and rubbing his arm, he woke up, and was still awake when I left an hour and a half later - so we know that he is trying to come back to us. The more people that will come visit the better. Talk to him, ask him to blink his eyes for you, ask him to follow your finger, ask him to squeeze your hand - anything that might get a response out of him.

In the meantime, we are trying to have a "normal" (as possible) Christmas for Jessica and Olivia. Several of you helped to play Santa and for that we are so very thankful. It's so wonderful that so many people have come together for Liv....she is such a deserving kid.

We will make sure to take lots of pictures on Christmas of Livi enjoying all her loot!! And post them as soon as possible.

Merry Christmas to you all.
Thanks for your continued prayers.

We all need to get together and have a hands on healing prayer service for Brian. Especially now at Christmas time.

He needs prayers and love right now more than ever, so why can't we all get together very soon some how and meet in his room and do this?
